A pooch who was rescued by the Barrhead Animal Rescue Society is about to get more than his 15 minutes of fame.
Chewy was taken in by Terry Colborne from the rescue society, in January, after his owners gave him up in the middle of a nasty divorce. Now, Chewy is finally being adopted. Last month, Colborne received a call from a man who trains animals for movies and television shows, in Hollywood.
“He told me who he was and said he was interested in Chewy. I think my heart jumped out of my chest,” Colborne says adding, “Chewy apparently looks like a dog that’s going into a particular movie that they’re now producing, in California.”
Colborne sent the man some photos and a few videos and within a few short days,

“He said, Terry, we’d really like to get Chewy down here. How do we do that?”
Chewy is one of hundreds of dogs Colborne has rescued over the years, and not all of their stories turn out as well as Chewy’s.
“We end up seeing and getting involved in a lot of abuse cases and that type of thing.”
Most of the dogs are either abused or abandoned. Colborne says it’s draining work, and tough to see what these animals have gone through.
“We try to save as many as we can, but we can’t save them all,” he says adding, “That’s the kind of thing that wears us out but, this type story is a lotto, it’s a lotto ticket, it’s a winner.”
Chewy will jet off Saturday morning, headed for Los Angeles. His first role will be in a Disney film.
Colborne says while he is going to miss Chewy immensely, he is extremely happy to see him headed for such a great life, one he can follow over the years to come.
“I love him to death. I’m going to miss him.”
“I think I certainly would take joy in seeing Chewy in something,” Colborne says adding, “As long as they don’t throw him over the cliff. Right?”
Chewy will be trained and used for the next three or four years, then retired. He will then spend the rest of his life with the trainer and his other animals.
