A climbing accident in Glacier National Park east of Revelstoke has claimed the life of a Vancouver man.
RCMP say the incident happened early Monday morning on the West Ridge of Mount Tupper — a popular route for climbers.

They say 61 year-old Carl Douglas fell an estimated 300 metres when a piece of rock he was holding onto broke away from the rock face.
Douglas was with two other climbers at the time of the incident. Police say all three were equipped and wearing the appropriate climbing gear.
