Teenage girl killed in Lethbridge crash

A 17-year-old girl has died from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash in Lethbridge on Monday.

It happened at around 3:15 p.m. on Westside Drive West, south of Highway 3.

Police said a southbound car was rear-ended by a truck. The impact pushed the car into the northbound lane, where it was hit a second time by a northbound truck.

Both occupants of the car were transported to hospital.

The 16-year-old driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old passenger sustained life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital in Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance but succumbed to her injures early Tuesday morning.

Police said alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash.
