Tachinski placed sixth late last week in the women’s 800m event. The 17-year-old was the second youngest athlete in the race. She finished in second place in her semifinal heat to qualify for the final. Tachinski broke the Canadian under-18 outdoor 800m record last month. She also holds national youth indoor records in the 300m, 400m and 600m distances.
Tachinski still has two years of junior eligibility remaining.
