Buffalo Sabres’ forward Evander Kane has been arrested and charged in Buffalo, N.Y., Friday morning.
The former Winnipeg Jet has been charged with misdemeanour criminal trespass and at least two non-criminal counts of harassment, according to the Buffalo News, a newspaper in the city.
Global News reached out to the staff at the newspaper, who said they witnessed three local police detectives putting handcuffs on Kane, 24, and then accompanying him into the city court building.
According to the Buffalo News, the charge is related to a confrontation last month at a Buffalo bar.
According to the reports, one woman told police Kane threatened her inside the club and when outside, grabbed her throat. The second woman accused Kane of trying to force her from the bar.
Kane’s attorney, Paul Cambria, didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
Kane, 24, was cleared earlier this year of any criminal wrongdoing after a sexual encounter involving a 19-year-old woman he met in a different downtown bar.

In February, Kane was suspended by the Buffalo Sabres for sleeping in and missing practice.

He later apologized for missing it, adding he takes “full accountability” for his actions.
During his time in Winnipeg, he also faced criticism and outrage online after several controversial posts.
Kane has two years remaining on his contract with the Buffalo Sabres.
