Winnipeg police looking to identify cyclist killed by semi Wednesday

WINNIPEG — Police are investigating a fatal collision between a cyclist and a semi-trailer Wednesday evening.

Shortly before 6 p.m a woman was riding her bike northbound on Main Street on the west sidewalk approaching Logan Avenue.

A semi-trailer was also travelling northbound on Main Street while turning onto Logan Avenue, when it collided with the woman.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she later died.

Police are still working to confirmed the identity of the cyclist because she had no identification on her. Police said she appeared to be in her late 20’s or early 30’s, had a thin build and medium dark brown hair. The bicycle she was riding was a Barletta ATB 12 with white grey writing, police said.

Police also confirm that she had distinctive tattoos on her left arm.

Officers are asking anyone with information regarding the identity the victim or who may have witnessed the collision, to contact them at 204-986-6271.

The driver of the semi-trailer has been identified and is cooperating with police.
