After wet weather soaked the city through the start of July, it appears Calgary is finally going to see some sunshine.
According to meteorologist Jordan Witzel, the city is set to hit a high of 25 C on Wednesday, followed by a high of 26 C on Thursday and 22 C on Friday.

“There is a risk of an afternoon thunderstorm on Friday,” Witzel conceded. “But the weekend will see sun and highs in the mid-20s.”
According to Witzel, July is typically one of the wettest months in Calgary, but he said rainfall amounts the city has seen so far are “extraordinary.”
Total July rainfall for Calgary is on average about 65.5 mm, according to historical data recorded by Environment Canada between 1981 and 2010.
So far this month, 124.1 mm of rain has been recorded at the Calgary International Airport.

Witzel said south Calgary has already seen 144.3 mm of rain, according to a weather station he set up at his house.
“Most of that was seen last Friday,” Witzel said. “Still, collectively, that’s more than double the average.”
Meanwhile, west Calgary hasn’t been hit quite as hard, with Canada Olympic Park only recording 88.0 mm of rain.
Witzel anticipates Calgary will now return to more typical seasonal temperatures and precipitation amounts for the remainder of the summer.
