A family member of a six-week-old boy who died in Saskatoon this month wants the teenager accused in his killing tried as an adult.
On July 3, police responded to the injured baby in the 200-block of Waterloo Crescent. The infant was taken to Royal University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The infant’s great-grandmother, Eva Meechance, told reporters the accused should have known better.
“She hurt my great-grandson and I don’t like that, it hurts right here in my heart. I don’t hide nothing and I wanted her to go to jail for life,” Meechance said.
“I don’t want her to get charged for that … youth. I wanted her to get charged for adult.”

The Criminal Justice Act allows judges to impose an adult sentence on a youth found guilty of a serious crime.
The teen is scheduled to be back in court next week.
