OTTAWA – Food safety officials have euthanized 14,000 ducks at a farm in Ontario’s Niagara region where bird flu was detected last week.
And the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has established a quarantine zone around the farm near St. Catharines.

The quarantine covers a three kilometre radius.

The agency says bird flu has not been detected in any other farms in the quarantine zone, but officials are monitoring for any possible spread.
Avian flu doesn’t pose a risk to food safety when poultry products are properly cooked.
And it rarely poses a risk to people who don’t have constant contact with infected birds.
