Voters are being asked to approve $7.7 million to build the city hall and civic centre.

Residents actually forced the referendum by rejecting an alternate approval process, which would have pushed the project through without a vote.

The entire project is slated to cost $10.5 million but some money has been set aside by the city from reserves and surplus.
