A cougar alert has been issued for the village of Meota, Sask.
The alert was issued Wednesday on Saskatchewan’s new emergency alert system – SaskAlert.

According to the alert, a cougar was sighted just outside the village limits.
People are being warned to be extremely cautious and to avoid the cougar or go indoors if it is spotted.

It also asks people to report any sightings to local authorities.
The advisory alert is in place until Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
