UPDATE: Robert Major to stand trial in Highway 16 crash that killed sons, girlfriend
Robert Major, the driver of a pickup truck involved in a collision that killed his two sons and his girlfriend, is facing criminal charges. Major’s vehicle collided with a semi-truck pulling a trailer filled with vehicles on Highway 16 near Langham, Sask.

According to the Saskatoon provincial court docket, Major now faces 12 charges related to the crash on Feb. 22, 2016:
- Three counts of criminal negligence causing death
- Three counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm
- Three counts of dangerous driving causing death
- Three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm
There were seven people in Major’s truck that February morning, according to Saskatchewan RCMP.
A family friend identified the deceased as Major’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Kimberly Oliverio and the accused’s sons, Theodore Cardinal, 9, and Brenden Major, 4.
Two other boys and another man in the pickup survived with injuries, along with the semi driver.

Major was scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday. Neither he nor his lawyer were present when his name was called in the courtroom.
The matter has been pushed back to July 13.
