LES CÈDRES – At least two drivers going through the Autoroute 30 toll in Les Cèdres claim they’ve been mistakenly overcharged.

Éloïse Pilon was driving through the toll on June 16 and paid using her credit card.

She later checked her transactions and saw that she had been charged $9.25.

The regular toll fee for a car is $2.50.

“I took for granted that I was charged for a small car and indeed I wasn’t,” said Pilon.

Pilon said she took action and was refunded the full amount, but said the people who run the toll didn’t offer an explanation as to how she could have been overcharged – or why she got her money back.

In a similar case, Tyler Nurse also used his credit car when crossing the toll.

When he looked at the toll booth screen, he told Global News it read $9.25.

Nurse wasn’t sure what to do so he paid the fee.

“When I checked my transaction it showed $9 and then on my way back it ended up being $2,” he said.

Nurse said there should be help for credit card users at the toll booth.

“If you’re in the credit card aisle, there’s just the machine there,” he said.

“There’s nobody standing there. Whereas if you’re paying cash, you hand the money to somebody.”

Pilon agreed additional help could help solve the overcharging problem.

“Had there been someone at the window, they eventually see what’s in front of them so they charge for what they see,” she said.
