Champagne Bridal in Saskatoon closes doors permanently

Champagne Bridal in Saskatoon has decided to "permanently" close its doors and is asking customers to deal with dress makers directly. Devin Sauer / Global News

Brides-to-be have been left on their own to get their wedding gowns in time for their big day. On Tuesday afternoon, Champagne Bridal announced via social media that it would be closing its doors, effectively immediately.

The owners of the Saskatoon business located on 21st Street East stated in a Facebook post that they made some mistakes when they expanded into a new space and business model.

The post added they never intended to cause any undue stress but got behind on their payments to designers earlier this year which delayed the delivery of orders.

“Our intention was never to take advantage of anyone or cause any stress, as we felt we had everything under control and making improvements to get caught up,” the Facebook post said.

“While we do not blame anyone else for our situation, the rumours and negative public comments that escalated over the past few weeks have resulted in too many requests for refunds and loss of business for us to recover and keep our doors open.”

Customers are now being asked to contact the manufacturers directly to ensure their dress is on its way.

The family owned and operated business said it will not be providing refunds.
