WHITBY, Ont. – Police have charged three teenagers who allegedly robbed another teen with a bat and then crashed a stolen car east of Toronto.
Durham Regional police say a 15-year-old boy and his friend were approached in Ajax, Ont., by two suspects who asked to use his phone.
They say when the teen refused to hand over the phone, one suspect took out a baseball bat while the other suspect grabbed the teen’s backpack.
Police say the teens chased the suspects, but was then stopped and grabbed by the neck before the suspects fled in a waiting white Honda SUV driven by a third suspect.
Provincial police responded to a crash on a highway off-ramp in Pickering, Ont., where they came across the SUV.
A 17-year-old male and two 16-year-old males have been charged with robbery, theft of a car, possession of weapons and possession of stolen property while one of the 16-year-olds is also charged with driving without a license.
