Saskatoon police issued a public advisory Wednesday of a new variation of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scam. Fraudsters have reportedly been requesting payment in iTunes gift cards.

Reports keep coming in from complainants who receive phone calls from scammers, who claim to be from the CRA, using threatening and aggressive language to frighten the victims into paying fictitious debt.

This scammer also requested the same type of payment.

Police are reminding the public that the CRA does not communicate with taxpayers in this way, nor does it request payment in the form of gift cards.

Anyone who believes they have been a victim of fraud can report it to the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre or call 1-888-495-8501.
