Clinton campaign releases mock infomercial for Trump University

Hillary Clinton’s campaign kept up their anti-Trump attacks Saturday, releasing a video mocking the presumptive Republican nominee’s defunct Trump University.

The mock infomercial zeroed in on the seminar program’s alleged fraudulent practices, which are now under investigation in a class-action lawsuit from former students.

“Now you too can be a source of Trump’s wealth,” the ad says.

Intercut with news footage of the allegations that the school operated as a scam, the video lays out a three-part plan for enrollment. The first step is to sign up and the second is to pay “at the amazing price of everything you have.” The video then says there is no third step, as students “won’t learn anything.”

The video isn’t the first time Clinton has pointed to the alleged shady practices of the school. Earlier in the month, Clinton posted on Twitter calling Trump University a “fraudulent scheme used to prey upon those who could least afford it.”

The Clinton campaign will likely continue to use Trump University as an example in an effort to cast Trump as a callous businessman only concerned with enriching himself. As part of that effort, Clinton has previously hammered Trump for appearing to cheer for the collapse of the U.S. housing market and for failing to make good on pledges to donate to veterans until he was pressured to follow through by the media.

Trump University is currently the focus of lawsuits which accuse the business of fleecing students with unfulfilled promises to teach secrets of success in real estate. Plaintiffs contend that Trump University gave seminars and classes across the country but were actually more like infomercials, constantly pressuring customers to buy more and, in the end, failing to deliver.

The six-year-old case is scheduled to go to trial shortly after the 2016 presidential election.
