Calgary Stampede president and chairman of the board Bill Gray made the announcement at a noon news conference on Wednesday.
“Every year, we try and recognize someone who’s had a positive impact on our community, our city, our country or our world,” Bill said. “This year we’ve chosen two parade marshals to lead the 2016 Calgary Stampede parade.”
Some had speculated Fort McMurray Fire Chief Darby Allen would be given the honour of leading the Calgary Stampede’s annual parade. Although he was not named parade marshal, officials did reveal plans to honour those who helped fight the wildfire.
