KELOWNA — A van crashed into a home on Yates road Sunday morning.
The home is a unit in the Providence Ridge complex.
“It was so loud, I thought it was a bomb,” said one neighbour.
Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended the scene.
Officials say no one was injured.
“I always thought this place was very calm and safe so this is unusual,” said another neighbour.
The incident caused significant damage, bringing down a support beam and putting a dent into the wall of the home.
“The hot water tank was hissing and the whole part of the foundation looks like it was moved,” according to a neighbour.
Police say the female driver of the van failed to remain at the scene. She was arrested once officers caught up with her but was later released.

She’s facing potential charges under the Motor Vehicle Act and for failing to remain at the scene.
Police say while there is indication that the driver may have consumed alcohol prior to driving, there was also a potential mechanical issue with the vehicle that could have led to the crash.
The vehicle was towed away and RCMP have ordered a full inspection on it.
