Officials say there were three sightings of a cougar on the Grouse Grind in a short amount of time last Tuesday.

Metro Vancouver staff say the animal was not aggressive and was just walking by. But North Shore Rescue has been notified, and warning signs have been erected along the trail.

“It’s something we’re watching,” said North Shore Rescue team leader Mike Danks.

“We’re certainly not stopping our patrols at all. You should always be cautious around animals, and read up on bears and cougars, and be aware of how you should act when you interact with them.”

They’re reminding the public that if you do see a cougar, not to turn your back on them. Instead, make a lot of noise, and let staff at the mountain know.
