Winnipeg police appoint new deputy chief

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) have named a new deputy chief. Superintendent Gord Perrier has been promoted to the position.

He replaces Dave Thorne, who announced his retirement earlier this month, after 35 years of service.

As superintendent, the 24-year veteran oversaw the police human resources and training divisions.

He has also worked many years as an investigator, specializing in money laundering and illegal packaging of currency.
