Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a 25-year-old man was found dead inside a Holiday Inn Express in Guelph early Tuesday morning.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said in a media release that an employee called the Guelph Police Service around 2 a.m. about noise coming from inside a third floor hotel room located on Silvercreek Parkway North.

Police arrived with the tactical unit and entered the room close to 4 a.m. where they found the body of the deceased male.
Four investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to this incident.
The SIU is an arm’s-length agency that investigates incidents involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
