Fire crews were called Sunday afternoon to a grass fire south of Edmonton in Nisku.
Crews could be seen working along Sparrow Drive and the train tracks that run through the industrial area. Many people driving on the adjacent QEII spotted smoke rising.
The cause of the fire is not known.
A fire ban is currently in effect for parts of northern and central Alberta, including the Edmonton region.
