Joined by Minister of Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr and Fort McMurray Fire Chief Darby Allen, Trudeau agreed with the premier’s comments on the amount of smoke and how deserted the area appeared.

“It’s a little eerie,” Trudeau said.

He didn’t respond to her next observation.

“I don’t know if you’ve ever watched The Walking Dead, maybe that’s just me,” Notley said, “with my obsession over bad TV, but it’s very Walking Dead.

“I’ve seen it,” Hehr replied.

“Well anyway, that’s probably a bad analogy,” Notley continued as Trudeau interrupted her.

“Here, Kent let’s get you onto the actual path,” Trudeau said, as Hehr turned his wheelchair off of the grass and towards a paved walkway.

The Walking Dead is a hit AMC series about a post-apocalyptic zombie world.

Trudeau and Notley flew up Friday morning in a Dash 300 for Trudeau’s first look at the fire, which forced all of its residents to flee more than a week ago. Trudeau toured the city and met with first responders.
