UPDATE: Grass fire in the Ellison area

UPDATE: Crews have the fire knocked down. It measured about 100 square feet. The cause is not known at this time.

ELLISON — Crews are at the scene of a reported grassfire in the Ellison area above the Kelowna airport.

Witnesses say smoke is visible on the hillside near Farmer’s Drive but there are no visible flames.

The fire is reported to be rank-2, meaning it’s a surface fire and that moves less than two metres per minute with no crowning of trees.
