Man arrested; prohibited firearm, ammunition seized from Kelowna home

KELOWNA — A 29-year-old Kelowna man is in police custody after RCMP executed a search warrant on Friday night.

“The Kelowna RCMP Prolific Offender Suppression Team[,] along with the support of the detachment’s General Duty Section[,] Street Enforcement Team [and] the Emergency Response Team converged on a residence in the 400 block of Hein Road,” said Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.

O’Donaghey says police seized a prohibited firearm and ammunition from the residence.

“The investigation is ongoing. Contrary to reports in the media, there were no Coroner’s at the scene,” said O’Donaghey.

The Kelowna man in police custody is expected to appear in court on Monday.
