MONTREAL- Police say an 18-year-old man is in stable but critical condition after he was shot in an attempted murder in Rosemont on Friday evening.

At 9:30 p.m. police received 911 calls reporting gunshots heard on 18th Avenue, between Rosemont Boulevard and Bellechasse Street.

When officers arrived on scene they found an abandoned vehicle parked at the corner of 18th Avenue and Rosemont Boulevard.

Some of the car’s windows were smashed and there was a trail of blood leading to a nearby apartment building.

Police followed the trail and discovered the injured man who had been shot at least once in the upper body.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

A large perimeter was erected around the crime scene as investigators scoured the area.

The perimeter was lifted at 6 a.m Saturday.

Police say the motive of the attack is not known and there is no word on suspects.
