A new SkyTrain station has already been announced for the Evergreen Line, even four years before its expected opening day in summer 2016.
The new Lincoln Station, which will be located at Pinetree Way and Lincoln Avenue, will be funded through a public-private partnership between the federal government, the City of Coquitlam and Pensionfund Realty Limited, the owners of Coquitlam Centre Mall. The station will bring the total of Coquitlam Evergreen Line stops to seven.
“We are thrilled to have received such a significant contribution, and to be able to make the Lincoln Station a reality,” said Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart in a statement Thursday.

“It will greatly improve the quality of life in our community and support the long-term transportation goals of the city and the region.”
Minister James Moore echoed that sentiment.
“Our government is committed to improving the quality of life in communities across Canada by investing in local infrastructure,” Moore said. “By investing in this project, we are partnering with the City of Coquitlam to leverage public funds with private support. This is a big win for commuters in the Tri-Cities and especially for taxpayers.”
While a final price tag on the station has yet to be determined, the federal government will contribute up to $7 million to the project through the P3 Canada Fund. Once selected, a private operator will then build and finance the remainder of the project.
Lincoln Station will serve the Coquitlam Centre Mall, as well as a dozen existing and planned residential and retail developments within walking distance, helping to further the city’s community plan for the city centre to become a sustainable high-density, urban core.
According to a city press release, the project will directly and indirectly create some 8,000 jobs and will open at the same time as the rest of the line in 2016.
