REGINA – Regina has launched a mass notification system so residents and businesses can be notified if there is a emergency or warning in the city.

The “notifynow” will provide city-wide notifications for emergency events like the 2015 water conservation issue, severe weather warnings, or more targeted messages for neighbourhood-specific evacuations.

The city received a $320,000 donation from the Co-op Refinery Complex to cover purchase and maintenance costs for the system.

“Emergencies can happen at any time and it can be a challenge to get important messages to residents. This system will allow us to advise residents quickly so they can make effective and timely decisions for themselves and their loved ones,” Mayor Michael Fougere said.

“I extend my gratitude to the Co-op Refinery Complex for their generous donation and commitment to the safety of our community.”
