Fire advisory issued for forested areas west of Calgary

A fire advisory was issued Monday for the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) west and southwest of the city.

Citing persistent hot and dry conditions, officials said the advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.

As a result of the advisory, existing fire permits are cancelled and no new permits will be issued. Safe campfires are still allowed.

WATCH BELOW: Albertans are asked to be aware and take precautions after a heat a fire advisory was issued Monday.

Albertans are asked to clear debris from hot spots on any off-highway vehicles like ATVs, make sure campfires are extinguished when done, and keep in mind that exploding targets can start wildfires.
