KELOWNA – A 36-year-old Kelowna man is expected to face charges after someone noticed a driver “slumped over their wheel” in a Kelowna parking lot and called police.
RCMP say they were called in by a member of the public to the 2100 block of Richter Street just before 4:15 Thursday afternoon.
Police say they couldn’t “easily” wake the driver up and he seemed to be intoxicated.
“Investigators also observed what appeared to be some illegal drugs in plain sight inside the vehicle and subsequently entered into an impaired investigation.,” wrote Cpl. Tania Carrol.
“We want to thank the caller who notified the police and stayed on scene until the member arrived. Had the caller not stayed, the driver could have woken up and began driving again, putting the public and himself at greater risk.”
The case is expected back in court on September 29.
