Police are investigating a serious collision after a black SUV crashed into a downtown Toronto store and hydro pole.

Officers were called to the corner of Bathurst and Harbord streets around 1:30 p.m. Thursday after the vehicle knocked down the pole.

When police arrived, they found the SUV rammed into the front door entrance of the Stop ‘N’ Go convenience store.

Security footage obtained by Global News shows the violent impact of the collision from inside the store.

At least one person was injured as a result of the crash, but the nature of the injuries wasn’t clear.

“It is spectacular at this point, but with any luck the injuries are not serious,” Const. Clint Stibbe said at the scene. “And if that’s the case, it’s really just a really messy accident.”

Hydro workers were called to the scene to stabilize the hydro wires.

A grey SUV also appeared to be damaged near the scene of collision, but the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s damage weren’t clear.
