The Lethbridge College Faculty Association released the results of an internal survey which suggests a lack of confidence in the college’s Board of Governors and some senior administration. This is the second survey of faculty in the last two years.
An internal survey obtained by Global News shows the majority of faculty has little confidence in the school’s Board of Governors, the board’s chairman, the president/CEO and the vice-president Academic/COO.
The survey results include:
- 73.5 per cent say they have no confidence in chairman of the Board of Governors Randy Jespersen;
- 59.8 per cent say they have no confidence in the Board of Governors;
- 66.7 per cent say they have no confidence in President/CEO Dr. Paula Burns;
- 66.1 per cent say they have no confidence in VP Academic/COO Stuart Cullum.
Dr. Paula Burns said she’s disappointed with those numbers given that she feels administration has worked hard to listen to the concerns of faculty over the last year.
“We know the past year has been a huge success … our students are satisfied. Our community is engaged with us, our capital campaign is going over very well,” Burns said. “I hear on a daily basis from people they are happy with the college.”
The president of the Lethbridge College Faculty Association said, while there is tension between the faculty and the board, both parties are committed to student success.
