EPS investigating another bike trail assault

 The Edmonton Police Service is investigating an assault that took place just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.

A complainant was riding her bike towards the river valley when she was assaulted on a bike trail in the area of 102 Avenue and Churchill Crescent. She did not sustain any injuries.

The complainant called police immediately and the area was searched by patrol members, canine unit and Air-1, however the suspect was not located.

This incident may be linked to other assaults that have taken place on bike trails this year in the Gold Bar, McNally, Dawson and Muttart Conservatory areas in the afternoon. In all of the cases, the suspect was riding a bicycle on the bike paths. The suspect allegedly grabs the victims from behind.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with an average build, 5’10″ – 6’0″ tall, 30 – 45 years of age and has shoulder length, wavy, light brown hair. He was wearing shorts and a solid brown t-shirt with yellow stripes. He may also be wearing a bicycle helmet or hat.

The EPS reminds all citizens that it is crucial to be aware of your surroundings at all times and to report suspicious persons or activity to police immediately.
