UPDATED: Power restored to thousands in Sicamous

Update: Power has been restored to thousands of BC Hydro customers in the Sicamous and Malakwa areas after a three and a half hour outage.

Around 4,000 customers were impacted by the outage caused by a problem with a transformer at the Salmon Arm substation.

Power was restored just after 2:00 p.m.

SICAMOUS – Thousands of BC Hydro customers in the Sicamous area have been without power since just before 10:30 Thursday morning.

BC Hydro’s website lists four separate power outages in the area caused by a transmission circuit failure.

Hydro says a crew is on-site dealing with one of the outages, which is impacting more than 2,000 customers south of Old Town Road.

The crown corporation hasn’t provided an estimated time when power could be restored.
