Naricho Clayton ID’d as victim in Tuesday night shooting on Gottingen Street

Tuesday night’s shooting was officially ruled a homicide Thursday, making it Halifax’s sixth this year, and police are searching for a suspect on the loose.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of Gottingen Street just before 11 p.m. after multiple reports of shots fired. When they arrived they found two men in a vehicle.

Twenty-three-year-old  Naricho Clayton, of Dartmouth, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on an autopsy completed Tuesday, the medical examiner ruled Clayton’s death a homicide.

A 31-year-old man, originally from Halifax, also sustained life-threatening injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital.

Police said his condition has improved, but they haven’t been able to speak with him about the shooting.

Halifax Regional Police said they have identified a suspect they are currently looking for as part of their ongoing investigation.

Police are also investigating the possibility that the suspect may have had help after the shooting.
