A Surrey homeowner is in stable condition after being slashed in the chest and robbed early this morning during a break and enter on 62A Avenue.

The suspects then fled the scene in the homeowner’s car.

The victim, a 57-year-old man, was asleep when he heard the suspects rummaging through his drawers just before 4:30 a.m., according to his son. That’s when his father jumped one of the suspects before chasing them out the door. It was during the physical altercation that he was slashed in the chest.

“My dad turned around and I saw blood from [his chest] all the way down,” his son said. “I immediately ran in and called the police… [the knife] nearly missed his heart and made it in through his rib cage. He’s very lucky.”
