3rd person charged in Corey Lucas murder arrested at airport: Halifax police

HALIFAX – Police have arrested a third person in connection with the murder of Corey Duane Lucas in May.

Police arrested 27-year-old Simon Peter Dugas at Halifax Stanfield International Airport Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. Dugas, from Sherwood Park, Alta., is due in Halifax Provincial Court Tuesday to face charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Const. Brian Palmeter would not say what Dugas was doing at the airport or whether he was on arriving or departing on a flight.

Palmater says Dugas was brought to police attention through the course of the investigation into the murder of 36-year-old Lucas, at an apartment building on Clifton St.

Lucas was pronounced dead the evening of May 25 after police were called to a double-shooting at 2711 Clifton St., in the city’s north end.

A second man, 31-year-old William Bolliver, was injured when multiple shots were fired at the scene. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

Dugas is the third person arrested in connection with the homicide investigation. The Chronicle Herald reports he has at least four previous convictions in N.S.

Last month, police charged 20-year-old Dylan Peter Roach with first-degree murder and attempted murder, while Jenna Karlene Piercy, 27, was charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Roach is due back in court July 26, while Piercy is set to appear on Monday.

Police originally charged Roach and two others on May 29 with drug-related offences in connection with Lucas’ death.

Lucas’ murder was the sixth homicide of the year in Halifax Regional Municipality
