Saturday Night Live hosted a mini-Seinfeld reunion, bringing co-creator Larry David and star Julia Louis-Dreyfus together on the sketch comedy show.
Louis-Dreyfus, who hosted the show, reprised her role as Elaine Benes as she berated David’s iconic version of US democratic presidential hopeful, Bernie Sanders during a mock debate with SNL cast member Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton.
In a scene reminiscent of her Seinfeld days, she asked how Sanders would break up the big banks.
Other highlights of the night included Louis-Dreyfus’ opening monologue that satirically spotlighted some of her lesser-known roles as a cast member in the 80s. Louis-Dreyfus’ Veep co-star Tony Hale also made an appearance in her monologue as her bumbling aide Garry.
Nick Jonas was the musical guest and performed his new material that included a surprise appearance by fellow artist Tove Lo in the song Close. Jonas also appeared in a skit involving Louis-Dreyfus where she played a bored housewife who was having an affair with her pool boy played by cast member Pete Davidson.
Earlier in the week Louis-Dreyfus had spoken out about her experience as a cast member on SNL from 1982 to 1985, calling it a “very sexist environment,” in an interview with The New York Times.

This appearance was the third time the actor has hosted the late night show and says there’s been a considerable difference in the way female cast members are treated.
“Since I’ve gone back, I can tell you it’s much more of an equal-opportunity environment,” she said.
