Murder charges against John Paul Ostamas lowered, according to lawyer

WINNIPEG – Two charges against John Paul Ostamas have been reduced from first-degree murder to second-degree murder, according to his lawyer Greg Brodsky.

Brodsky said Ostamas is now facing three charges of second-degree murder in the deaths of Donald Collins, 65, Stony Stanley Bushie, 48, and Myles Monias, 37 in April 2015.

The three Winnipeg men were homeless at the time of their deaths.

Brodsky also said Ostamas will be pleading guilty if some issues are resolved.

His next court appearance is scheduled for May 11 at the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba.
