LAVAL – Antoine Jarvis, 19, has been missing since April 7.
Thursday, Laval police, along with firefighters and a Sûreté du Québec (SQ) helicopter searched the banks of the Rivière des Prairies, not far from the Viau Bridge.

“We have two boats on the river, ” said Christian Grand’Maison, chief of operations for the Laval firefighter department.
“We coordinate(d) [our] search with our boats, the helicopter of the Sûreté du Québec, in order to, we hope, to find the young man.”
Witnesses reported seeing Jarvis, cousin of former Montreal Canadiens defenceman Devante Smith-Pelly, on the Lachapelle Bridge.
“We have information that is leading us to believe that the person may have been in the area,” said Evelyne Boudreau, spokesperson for Laval police.
Firefighters concentrated their efforts on one particular area, saying they wanted to rule out all possibilities.
“Maybe the dam is the stop of the river for all things that go in the river,” said Grand’Maison.
“We hope that the body is here and found at this place.”

Authorities combed the banks of the Rivière des Prairies for just over two hours, with no results.
Police insisted they will continue their search for the missing teen.
“We’re gonna have to go over the cases again and try and open other doors,” said Boudreau.
Meanwhile, the young man’s family has taken to Twitter and are pleading with the public for information that could bring him home.
Officers said they do not suspect foul play, but said they haven’t ruled it out.
“At this particular moment, I don’t have information leading me to believe that there’s foul play involved,” said Boudreau.
“But we have to close every door.”
