Chief Lee Boyd of the Blood Tribe Police Service said Tuesday Inspector Francis Joseph Many Fingers has been charged with a criminal offence by Lethbridge Police.
Since the charge is through Lethbridge Police, Boyd declined to comment on the specifics.
Boyd told Global News once the charge has been resolved, Blood Tribe Police will open a separate police service regulation investigation in relation to the circumstances of the event that led to the charge. As per normal BTPS policy, Many Fingers has been suspended from duty with pay until the legal process has been completed.
Chief Boyd said he was made aware of the charge late last week.
Lethbridge Police said Many Fingers was charged April 7 with one count of aid/abet breach of a condition of a recognizance. They said since it’s a “domestic-related” matter, they will not comment on the details.
Many Fingers has been with the BTPS for 20 years.
