Lloydminster man’s car clocked at 161 km/h on Highway 17

Maidstone RCMP say they encountered a driver travelling at a high rate of speed while on patrol Wednesday. The car was clocked at 161 kilometres per hour on Highway 17.

The posted speed limit was 100 km/h.

The Lloydminster man driving was stopped by RCMP and charged for one count of speeding in excess of 50 km/h over the speed limit. His vehicle was also impounded for seven days under the Traffic Safety Act.

In Saskatchewan, a motorist caught at this speed in a 100 km/h zone could face a fine of $464.
