Tourism Saskatchewan officially becomes Crown Corporation

Tourism Saskatchewan is now a Crown Corporation. 

It became official on July 1st when The Tourism Saskatchewan Act was proclaimed. 

The change comes after recommendations were made in the Tourism System Review and announced in the budget.

The government says having Tourism Saskatchewan in the Ministry of the Economy recognizes the importance of the sector to the economy. 

Around $1.7-billion is spent each year in Saskatchewan in the tourism industry. 

Incoming board chair Jack Brodsky says the change will help the industry move forward.
