Scandal star Kerry Washington ‘taken aback’ by Adweek Magazine cover

Kerry Washington says she is having trouble recognizing herself on the cover of Adweek Magazine.

“It felt strange to look at a picture of myself that is so different from what I look like when I look in the mirror. It’s an unfortunate feeling,” the Scandal star explained in an diplomatic post on Facebook Tuesday.

Washington said she was excited to be asked to be on the front page of the magazine, however, “was taken aback by the cover.”

Washington wrote she was well aware of the power of ‘Photoshopping’ and believes it is part of an important dialogue on altering images.

“In a way, we have become a society of picture adjusters – who doesn’t love a filter?!?,” she wrote.

“And I don’t always take these adjustments to task but I have had the opportunity to address the impact of my altered image in the past and I think it’s a valuable conversation.”

While she wasn’t overjoyed by the image, she was still please about the article in Adweek, an advertising-trade publication.

“Also, as I’ve said, I’m very proud of the article,” she wrote.
