Creativity sparks at apple bin paint-in

Many people celebrated Canada’s birthday with a bit of creativity on Sunday.

Children dug deep for some artistic inspiration at the annual Kelowna Art Gallery apple bin paint-in.

The young artists painted 32 apple bins as part of downtown Kelowna’s Canada Day festivities but their creative interpretations will soon be on display for the public to see.

Nataley Nagy, executive director of the Kelowna Art Gallery, says the apple bins will be used in Okanagan orchards to collect and hold locally grown apples.

Nagy says she has seen the event evolve into an annual tradition for some families.

Children wielded their brushes to paint sunsets, hearts and even a Snoopy.
