The search continued Thursday for a 26-year-old man from Midway after he fled a police roadblock in the Joe Rich area in the Central Okanagan.
At 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, traffic services stopped a Ford F-150 with a trailer at Highway 33 near Daves Road. The driver and passengers were about to be detained when the front passenger fled the scene on foot.
The man jumped a barbed wire fence and ran down the side of a ravine to avoid capture. A police dog was used to track the man but it could not locate him.
Two ATVs that had been stolen out of Grand Prairie, Alberta were found inside the trailer.
Police plan to charge the man with possession of stolen property. However they are concerned about the man’s welfare, saying there is a strong possibility he could be hurt.
The man is described as Caucasian, 5’10″ tall and 175 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.
There is no word on why the man took off or why the roadblock was set up in the first place.
