WATCH: Florida police use Jaws of Life to free dog with head stuck in tree

Sailor the dog was once lost – not at sea, but among an ocean of trees – but has now been reunited with her family.

Authorities in Florida helped rescue the pit bull mix when someone walking their dog heard Sailor’s whimpers on Friday. She got her head stuck in the base of a tree and it was unclear for how long she was there.

The Port Orange Police Department posted photos of the rescue on their Facebook page.

They wrote that a local veterinarian was brought in to sedate the pup while firefighters used chainsaws, winches and the Jaws of Life to release Sailor’s head.

Sailor was sent to Ravenwood Veterinary Clinic where she was assessed to be “doing just fine.” According to the Orlando Sentinel, the clinic was able to locate her family and reunite them with Sailor.
