A popular destination for Calgarians and tourists alike is again open to the public after a four-year closure.
Devonian Gardens in the Core shopping Centre reopened to the public on Wednesday, after undergoing a complete overhaul and renovation.
Originally completed in 1977, Devonian Gardens had not had any significant upgrades until the park was closed in 2008.
With a $37 million capital fund commitment from City Council, Parks was able to arrange a much needed renovation to the Gardens.
The facility now has 10,000 shrubs, 1.5 million pounds of soil and 210 trees to create a tropical oasis.
Officials are celebrating its grand re-opening on with a series of events and activities.
More information can be found at the City of Calgary’s website.
Located on the fourth floor of The CORE shopping centre, Devonian Gardens will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
