An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Sunday morning on the body of an individual found inside a home in Purcells Cove over the weekend.
Police were called to a home on Oceanview Drive, off Purcells Cove Road, shortly before 8 a.m., on Saturday after receiving a call from inside the home.
Once on scene, officers located a deceased person. The gender and age of the individual is not being released at this time.
A man was taken into custody at the same home but transported to hospital with what is described as significant injuries.
Police say he remains in hospital and is considered to be a person of interest in the suspicious death.
At this time, no charges have been laid. Forensic identification officers are continuing to process the home on Oceanview Drive for evidence.
More information is expected following the conclusion of an autopsy by the Medical Examiner.
